About Andie
Hello there, it’s lovely to meet you!
I’m Andie, a writer based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches since 2016. I grew up in the South Island of New Zealand, and to make a long story short (ha!) - I’ve been a writer since day dot.
What do I write, you ask? Well - I love a short story, a little memoir (upcoming novel about a year I spent travelling around Australia forthcoming!), I’ve been known to write a resume or two, and an article when needed. Oh! I also have reviewed and acted as editor on a couple of novels.
I love words, I always have. When I worked in Human Resources, one of my favourite jobs was when we were asked to provide a letter supporting staff applications to be released from Jury Duty. It was my one creative outlet in a decidedly uncreative industry, and eventually I decided that rather than trying to be a champion corporate person, I would instead simply just have to be myself.
So, I quit and now I have a day job that supports my need to write (and sometimes I write about my day job and I’ve been told it’s entertaining and heartwarming. Not to toot me own horn. Tall poppy syndrome and that.)
Should you wish to read some of my pieces, you may click here.
Should you wish to work together, please contact me. I will do many things for a very reasonable fee.
And, look - I’m not amazing at talking myself up - but when I have moments of thinking I’m a terrible writer, I try to remember that I was nominated for 3 awards in the space of 6 months. More info on the portfolio page. That was a true thing that happened so I may as well put it here.
I also don’t use AI, I use the dashes because I always have and you can pry them out of my cold dead hands. Too much? Sorry, I’ll stop. Anyway, I don’t use AI, and to those who say why even write in this world where computers run everything and the gpt can do it all:
It’s who I am, thats why, so take that. And I reckon people like authenticity. I hope so, anyway.
